Your Juggling Workshop Toolkit Teaching a how to juggle workshop is a great way to gain exposure and build contacts, whether you are a performer, teacher, or coach. You can teach workshops at libraries, community centers, youth programs and more, either for free or a small fee. You will build contacts and will get gigs and bookings later on. Here is what you need to get started: 1. Juggling Balls. I recommend Russian style balls, you can get 100 play pit balls from Wal-Mart for around $15, a few more dollars on sand or salt and some hot glue, and you're set! See the great Russian ball tutorial below, and you have the props you need to teach juggling to 30 people for about $20! 2. Some Type of handout with your logo/ website/ contact info-- you can put out your business card, but I recommend taking a little time to make a tri-fold brochure. 3. A lesson plan. Here is my basic lesson plan layout for a 1 hour workshop: 5 minute demonstration (mini show with balls, rings, clubs) 5 minutes introducing each person in the class (throw a ball from person to person, when you get the ball, you say your name and one interesting thing about yourself, etc.). 5 minutes demonstrate/ practice one ball 10 minutes demonstrate/ practice two balls 10 minutes demonstrate/ practice three balls for a cycle (flash) 5 minute break 10 minutes recap three balls and work one-on-one with students 10 minutes wrap-up, talk to students, etc. So go out and teach some workshops and get your name out there!
